Doctor Dominique Garcia began his medical studies in 1974 at the Faculty of Medicine of Bordeaux II, after having passed the entrance exam to the Naval Health School. He defended his thesis in general medicine on 18 June 1982, then benefited from an additional year of training at the Ecole d'Application du Service de Santé des Armées du Val de Grâce.
At the end of his studies, he chose his first assignment as Chief Medical Officer of the 11th Regiment of Chasseurs and the Gendarmerie Detachment in Berlin. After 4 years of posting, he asked for a position allowing him to prepare for a competitive examination to become a hospital assistant in the ENT discipline, and was posted to the Blois selection centre. After two years of preparation, he passed the competitive examination to become a military hospital assistant and chose the Val de Grâce training school as his assignment, which he joined on 1 September 1989.
He then began his training course with two years in the ENT department of the Bégin Military Hospital.
In 1991 he did a 6 month internship in the ENT department of Professor Freyss at the CHU Lariboisière, then another 6 months in the ENT and paediatric department of Professor Bobin at the CHU Bicêtre.
In 1992 he returned to the Army Health Service in the ENT department of Pr Buffe at the Val de Grâce, for one year.
In 1993 he did a 6 month internship in the ENT and cancer surgery department of Prof. Brasnu at the Laennec Hospital.
He returned to Professor Buffe's department at the Val de Grâce, and prepared for the competitive examination for specialist in military hospitals.
He was appointed as a specialist of the Army Hospitals in May 1995, after 6 years of training, and chose the position of Head of the ENT and cervico-facial surgery department of the Bouffard Hospital in Djibouti.
In 1997, he joined the Val de Grace Hospital where he was assigned as assistant to the head of the ENT and cervicofacial surgery department. Continuing his cooperation with the oncology department of the Laennec and then Pompidou hospitals, he was given responsibility for the oncology activity in the ENT department of the Val de Grace, under the direction of Professor Poncet, head of the department.
In 2001, after 27 years in the army, he chose a new path and set up in Arcachon in association with Dr Morin, at 72 cours Héricart de Thury. His surgical activity is carried out exclusively at the Arcachon clinic. His RPPS number is: 10002816279
In 2009 he passed a university diploma on vertigo and balance disorders in Reims in the department of Pr Chays
On 01/12/2020 Dr Garcia asked to retire and thus left the practice in Arcachon, after 27 years in the army and almost 20 years in private practice. Nevertheless, he will continue to work on an occasional basis in the Arcachon basin as a replacement, but probably also across the oceans for some time.
